“Hurry, hurry, hurry! Thank goodness you’re here, Millie! And just in the nick of time!”
Chelsea was beginning to panic since the warning bell for first period had just sounded at Ogden Hills High School and her assistant, Millie, just arrived.
Chelsea manages attendance in the front office. Ever since they resumed in-person classes, the number of tardy students has grown exponentially. Luckily, she was given the thumbs up to hire Millie for three hours in the morning just to manage the whole process.
DING DING DING! “Ok, Millie. Final bell just sounded. Here we go!”
The door to the office swung open and in poured the tardy students. Chelsea and Millie had their process down pat. Chelsea was propped in front of her computer with a legal pad to her right. Her job was asking the students their names, then looking them up in PowerSchool to see what class was on their bell schedule.
Millie sat right next to her with several pens along with store bought cards that had HALL PASS printed along the top. On the desk between them was a basket for any ‘Notes from Home’ and the carbon copy of the hall pass that Millie wrote. They had to move fast to get these tardy students off to class before the first Absent text message was sent out to parents.
Chelsea worked quickly and called out the information to Millie. With lightning speed, she recorded the students name, time of entry and class on the hall pass. She then tore off the top copy and put the bottom copy in the basket for manual entry to PowerSchool later in the morning when things simmered down. This was repeated for the next hour with little time to come up for air.
Finally, Chelsea took a breath and looked up at Millie. “There must be a better way!”
Mr. Michaels, the Assistant Principal, had been watching this mayhem for the past month. He approached Chelsea at the end of the day and invited her to join him for a Lunch ‘n Learn Demo about automating their tardy process with identiMetrics AutoTardy Plugin for PowerSchool.
What did they learn? In as little as 2.6 seconds, the tardy students scan, grab their auto-print tardy passes and go directly to class. PLUS the plugin can be set up and running in about 30 minutes! Works with biometrics AND bar code scanners & PIN pads. (Biometrics Please!!)
This purchase was a no brainer. They virtually eliminated the madness. AutoTardy for PowerSchool is a GAME CHANGER at Ogden Hills High School.
