The Challenge

Poudre School District is located in Fort Collins, Colorado. PSD has 54 schools and serves approximately 28,000 students.

In the 2023–2024 school year, Colorado launched its Healthy School Meals for All program, providing free nutritious meals to students in participating public school districts.

The program was a tremendous benefit for students and families, but it also created a significant operational challenge for school food service departments. Poudre School District projected that it would serve approximately 1.2 million more meals than the previous year.

With participation surging, cafeteria staff faced several concerns:

The Solution

Seeking a faster and more efficient student identification process, Poudre School District piloted the identiMetrics Finger Scanning ID System in five schools during the spring of 2023.
